Integrating the new into existing structures.

The roots of the company are an important part of athmer and the corporate culture. They are the basis for successful internationalisation and provide us with constant impetus for our steady growth.

History of athmer

athmer oHG, based in Arnsberg-Müschede, is the leading international manufacturer of sealing and finger protection systems for doors and gates and the reliable partner. The owner-managed medium-sized company has more than 60 years of experience in the field of automatic door seals. It is part of the Julius Cronenberg Sophienhammer (JCS) group of companies.

Automatic door seals can be found in various private as well as public application areas. Special seals for all-glass, pivot and sliding doors round off the range. The portfolio is complemented by athmer finger protection, which effectively prevents fingers from becoming trapped in manual and automatic doors.

The company's success story began in 1955, the year in which the Kältefeind® door seal was registered as a trademark. At first, it mainly served to increase living comfort and was far ahead of its time with its idea of saving heating costs.

Within a few years, athmer became the market leader in the field of automatic door seals. First in Germany, then in Austria and Belgium, and finally throughout Europe.

The second successful brand of the still emerging athmer company became the Schall-Ex® in the 1980s. Its patented inner seal achieved top values in sound tests. Both Kältefeind® and Schall-Ex® became synonyms for automatic floor door seals, because they sold millions of times over - and proved their worth. Since then, innovative sealing systems for sound, smoke, fire and radiation protection doors have followed. Under the influence of the energy transition, the importance of energy saving also increased. Since then, athmer sealing systems have been scoring points in the field of green building, i.e. sustainable construction.

Since 1986, the athmer Finger Protection has complemented the range. The finger protection products were developed specifically to make the closing edges of the door safer. Crushing and injuries to fingers or hands can thus be prevented. The increasing safety awareness in kindergartens, schools and care facilities, combined with the trend to equip doors with an electric drive, also made these products successful in the long term.

The latest centrepiece of athmer's philosophy is the athmer Technical Centre, which uses state-of-the-art testing equipment to develop the best possible solutions together with door factories and other customers. This means that athmer is also optimally positioned for the future to be able to offer its customers the right solutions for automatic door seals and finger pinch protection systems.

In recent years, athmer has continued to grow and is active both nationally and internationally. Nevertheless, athmer always has its customers' requirements in mind. This can be seen in the regular innovations, such as the Comfort-Plan® zero threshold seal set for barrier-free entrances or all-round sealing systems for sliding doors. All to meet the high standard of high-performance and durable products. In addition, athmer offers many services, from technical advice to on-site support, which underlines athmer's reliability. It is not for nothing that fabricators, trade partners and architects have relied on the athmer brand for years.
